Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an accurate water content of grain by excluding from a measured value of water content a component corresponding to a rapid increase in the measured value occurring in several seconds after the start of measurement, whereby the fluctuation of measured value due to immature grain mixed in the grain under measurement is excluded from the necessary calculation.
CONSTITUTION: This measuring apparatus is provided with a measuring instrument 1 for crushing and clamping grain to measure the resistance thereof and generate a signal which is in inverse proportion to the resistance mentioned above, an integrating circuit 2, a measurement level comparing circuit 3, a measurement interval controlling circuit 4, a measurement frequency counting circuit 5, a measurement flag circuit 6, a 1.75sec. clock pulse generating circuit 7, a two- step cut-off flag circuit 8, a measuring timer circuit 9, an immature rice inhibit circuit 10, and a stop circuit 12. When immature grain is mixed in the grain being subjected to measurement to cause a measurement value to fluctuate greatly, a measurement value after the fluctuation has occurred is excluded to use a measurement value, obtained before the fluctuation has occurred, as an effective value. The water content of the grain is measured within one second after it has been crushed, and again after the grain has been left to be cooled for ten and several seconds. In a case where the second measurement value is higher than the first one by more than around 0.5%, the first measurement value is employed in the calculation of the water content.
