Abstract

PURPOSE:The flame retarder is microcapsuled with a resin to eliminate troubles when kneaded or molded, such as evolution of decomposition gas and deterioration of molded resin in physical properties. CONSTITUTION:A flame retarder such as chlorinated paraffin or perchloropentane- cyclodecane is dissolved or dispersed in polymerizable monomers such as acrylic acid, methyl methacrylate. This oil phase is dispersed in an aqueous phase as a number of liquid particles of 1-500mu and the monomers in the particles are polymerized to give microcapsuled flame retarder of 1-500mu particle sizes.
