CONSTITUTION: Where outside-air temperature is below a predetermined temperature, a normally closed contact Th4b of a thermostat is closed and a normally opened contact Th4a is open. In this case, when room temperature is below a set value, a normally closed contact Th1b is closed, and a normally opened contact 19a is closed by excitation of pole operation auxiliary relays 19 and 20, so that a compressor motor 16 is operated in a two-pole (high-power) operation mode. When the room temperature is above the set value, the ralays are deenergized, and a four-pole operation auxiliary relay 18 is excited due to closing of a normally opened contact Th1a, so that the motor 16 is operated in a four-pole (low-power) operation mode. Where outside-air temperature is above the predetermined temperature, the contact Th1b is closed and low-power operation is conducted when room temperature is below the set value, but the motor 16 is stopped when the room temperature is above the set value.
