Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect toner concentration stably with good accuracy by applying a magnetic field to the develoer, applying an electric field in the same direction as the direction of said magnetic field and measuring the current flowing there. CONSTITUTION:This is constituted by an electromagnet 2 for applying a magnetic field to developer 1, the pulses 3 to be applied to the electromagnet 2 at the measurement and a current measuring electrode 4. The developer 1 is fed to the current measuring electrode 4 and current is flowed to the electromagnet 2 to apply a magnetic field to the developer 1. An electric field is applied to the measuring electrode 4 from a power source 5 in the same direction as this magnetic field and the current in the state is measured with a current measuring device 6, whereby the toner concentration is detected. The develoer 1 flows into continuously, due to which clogging occurs if the magnetic field is being applied steadily and therefore the pulses 3 are added. Thereby, the toner concentration may be detected stably with good accuracy.
