Abstract
PURPOSE: To cut paper strip by means of a fly knife, by equalizing the line speed with the edge speed through deceleration or acceleration control, instead of stopping or starting the knife through a certain type of control.
CONSTITUTION: Paper strip 1 is fed through feed rolls 2. A fly knife 3 with its cutting edge 3A is fitted downstream the feed rolls 2. The count of a length counter 7 which measures the transfer of the strip is put in an operator 8 to deduct a pulse equivalent to a preset cutting length. The count of a fly knife counter 10 which countes the displacement of the knife is put in another operator 11 to deduct the number of fly knife pulses. Both results are put in an operator 12 and its output is given to a fly knife driving circuit to control a servo motor.
