Abstract

PURPOSE: The title composition capable of giving cured articles having improved flame retardancy, mechanical and electrical properties, prepared by incorporating a specific amount of melamine, etc. into a mixture of a polyhydroxy hydrocarbon polymer and a polyisocyanate compound.
CONSTITUTION: (A) polyhydroxy hydrocarbon polymer, e.g. a hydrogenated polyhydroxy diene polymer having an average number of hydroxy groups of preferably 1.8W8.0, and an average molecular weight of 500W20,000, which is a liquid or wax at normal temperature, is mixed with (B) a polyisocyante compound, e.g. tetramethylene diisocyanate, at an equivalent ratio of hydroxyl to isocyanate groups of 0.3W1.8. The mixture is then incorporated with 35W60wt%, preferably 35W 50wt%, of melamine, cyanuric acid, or melamine cyanurate to give the objective composition.
EFFECT: The melamine provides high arc-resistance.
