Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent noise and dints caused by the impact between steel pipes by providing rotary buffers on a skid rail in carrying steel pipes along the skid rail.
CONSTITUTION: Plural rotatable shafts 7 are disposed at suitable intervals in a horizontal plane under the surface of a skid rail at right angle relative to the direction of carrying steel pipes on the supporting frame of the skid rail for carrying the steel pipes by rolling or sliding. Each rotatable shaft is provided with plural buffer member 6 thus forming a rotary buffer 5. One of the plural buffer members 6 is heavier than the rest of the buffer members so that the heaviest buffer member stays at the bottom position while no steel pipe is engaged with the rotary buffer 5. The position of the rotatable shafts is determined to allow continuous rotation of the rotary buffers when they are pushed by steel pipes. When the retention of the head steel pipe among many steel pipes stored on the skid rail is released, the steel pipes move downward smoothly in succession as they turn the rotary buffers.
