Abstract

PURPOSE: To continue a trouble-free reaction below a dew point of catalyst-poisoning in a catalytic reactor which contactly reduces an NOx present in exchaust gas that contains SOx by a method wherein the catalyst-filled chamber is divided into small sectional areas and high temperature activating gas is blown into a part of the sectional areas.
CONSTITUTION: Cylindrical catalyst-filled chamber 1 in a catalytic reactor is divided by partition walls 2 into small section areas 3 which pass in the axial direction and having fan-shaped sectional area. The areas 3 are filled with catalyst of pipe shape or granules and rotated by motor 6 around the axis center. Waste gas is introduced from inlet pipe 7 into the chamber 1, is treated for denitrification, and discharged from outlet pipe 12. When sulfate is precipitated on the surface of catalyst, the filled-chamber 1 is rotated, and high temperature gas above the dew point of sulfate is blown through pipe 9 into the areas 3, so that the sulfate is melted and removed from the catalyst surface. In this equipment, heating is limited to part of filled catalyst, thereby reducing the equipment to a compact size and also reducing running cost.
