Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the blockade of a flow pah of a transmitting liquid even when membrane modules are operated for a long term by a method wherein water and air are introduced at the outsides of pipes with holes to which semipermeable membranes are attached and concentrated inorganic salts, organic matter, bacteria, etc. are washed.
CONSTITUTION: A solution of inorganic salt or organic matter flows toward a discharge pipe 3 from an introducing pipe 1 under pressurization. A solvent passes through semipermeable membranes and flows out from the transmitting holes 5 of pressure resisting pipes 4. Since the solvent contains some inorganic salt or organic matter, these inorganic salt or organic matter and breeding bacteria adhere near the transmitting holes 5. When there is danger which the transmitting holes 5 are blocked, water is let flow in from a washing water introducing port 10 while air is jetted into a water current from an air nozzle 7, and extraneous matter near the transmitting holes 5 is discharged from a transmitting liquid outlet 2 with washing water. Air is exhausted from an air ventilating port 6.
