Abstract
PURPOSE: To shorten arithmetic time by reducing coefficients of functions while simplifying arithmetic of intersections, by calculating intersections by regarding as a virtual origin the starting point of a correction locus or the center of a circle.
CONSTITUTION: Tape reader 4 reads a part program from tape 3 and then sends it to NC unit 5. Unit 5 sends data about coordinate values, a radius value and command code with respect to "i"-th locus Pi to cutter-diameter correction unit 6. According to the diameter of a cutter, unit 6 corrects locus Pi into correction locus Pi' and when locus Pi+1 close to the starting point of this locus Pi', the center of a circle or locus Pi is an arc, correction locus Pi+1' of locus Pi+1 is transformed into a coordinate system where the circle center is regarded as a virtual origin. Then, an intersection of two functions expression locus Pi' and Pi+1' is calculated to select an effective intersection and after coordinate values of this effective intersection are converted into values of the coordinate system of locus Pi, coordinate values of the terminal point of locus Pi' and the starting point of Pi+1' are corrected into coordinate values of the effective intersection after the conversion. On the basis of other values, unit 5 controls machine tool 7.
