Abstract

PURPOSE: To conduct an efficient cutting in a shortened cutting time by a method wherein the relative displacement of the cutting tool of a tool relative to the work is determined from the cutting resistance during cutting of each portion of the work, and correction of errors in cutting dimensions is applied to the cutting tool or the cutter holder according to the relative displacement.
CONSTITUTION: The cutting resistance P applied to a cutting tool 3 is converted into an electrical signal by a strain gauge 12, and fed to a central processor 1 through an amplifier 14 and an input-output unit 5. A reference correction setpoint corresponding to the cutting resistance P is stored as a cutting dimension error correcting amount Δ(ϕ) in a memory unit 4. The central processor 1 outputs an instruction to a controller 6 through the input-output unit 5, with the coordinates of the point plus the cutting dimension error correcting amount Δ(ϕ) as setpoints, thereby causing a cutter holder 10 to conduct a correcting operation.
