PURPOSE:To prevent needless wear of a rotary part and make a control circuit element long-life by driving the motor for floppy disc only at a disc access time. CONSTITUTION:Monostable multivibrator 3 is triggerred by the access command signal from floppy control circuit 2 of drive control circuit 1 which is connected to CPU10, ROM11, RAM12, etc., through bus line 13, and floppy disc driving circuit 8 is controlled by off-delay timer 4, OR circuit 6, etc., thereby driving the motor for disc. If the motor for disc does not reach normal rotation at a prescribed time after this drive command, read and write to the disc are inhibited through timer 7 and circuit 2. In case of a high access frequency, the motor for disc is always rotated by switch circuit 5 for all-time command, and drive of the motor is controlled according to access. Then, needless idle rotation is inhibited, so that needless wear of the rotary part of the disc device can be prevented and the life of the control element can be long.
