Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide rubber compsn. which excels in the prevention of mold contamination and can reduce the frequency of mold cleaning, obtd. by blending a specified quinoline derivative with rubber.
CONSTITUTION: (b) 0.05W0.5pts.wt. of a quinoline derivative of formula I (wherein X is -COOH, -SH, -CHO, -OH; R1, R2 are 1W12C alkyl) such as 8-hydroxy quinoline or 8-quinoline thiol, is blended with (a) 100pts.wt. of rubber to obtain the desired rubber compsn. Preferably, the cpd. of formula I together with 0.05W 5pts.wt. of at least one cpd. selected from (c) org. phosphoric ester such as sodium octadecylphosphate, (d) a metal salt of aliph. carboxylic acid having not less than five carbon atoms such as caproic acid, (e) a cpd. of formula II (wherein X is O, S or NH; R1 is 1W12C alkyl) and (f) a cpd. of formula III (wherein R2, R3 are 1W 18C alkyl), are blended with 100pts.wt. of the rubber to obtain the desired rubber compsn.
