Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the quantity of SOx in exhaust gas by charging an incinerator with a desulfurizing agent mixed with a high-sulfur waste beforehand.
CONSTITUTION: On incinerating a high-sulfur waste in an incinerator, the waste is mixed with a desulfurizing agent consisting at least of one kind of an oxide, a hydroxide or a carbonate of alkali metal or alkaline-earth metals before being put in the incinerator, in such a condition that they can maintain the mixed state also during the incineration treatment. In the incinerator SOx produced through incineration and the desulfurizing agent are reacted fully with each other and SOx is fixed in the desulfurizing agent, thus the quantity of SOx i.e. the concentration of SOx in the exhaust gas from the incinerator being reduced.
