Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the fluctuation in spinning and fiber-making properties, and to obtain the title fibers with high productivity, by spinning a streaky dispersion of a mixture of a high polymer electrolyte and an antistatic polymer solutions in an acrylonitrile polymer solution.
CONSTITUTION: A solution of a high polymer electrolyte, e.g. a copolymer of a sulfonic acid group-containing vinyl monomer and a hydrophobic vinyl monomer, is mixed with a solution of an antistatic polymer, e.g. a polyalkylene glycol. The resulting mixed polymer solution is divided and joined to an acrylonitrile polymer solution in a static in-line mixer comprising the two helical blades 1 which are set in the pipe 2 and shifted 90 deg. in the intermediate chamber 3 under such conditions at to satisfy the following equations: 0.4logmH+0.66≤logN≤0.4logmH+ 3.83 (N is the number of divided layers; m is the number of position; H is the number of orifices). The dispersion thus obtained is then spun into conductive fibers wherein the electrolyte is oriented.
