Abstract
PURPOSE: To transfer a two-phase fluid without decreasing the transfer efficiency even when the fluid is transferred for a long distance at a low velocity of flow.
CONSTITUTION: This pipe-line device consists of a long-distance two-phase pipe- line which is divided into some pipe-line sections 3 each including a sphere launcher 1 and a sphere catcher 2. Each pipe-line section 3 is provided with a plurality of liquid recovery by-passes 4. These by- passes 4 are provided in such portions of the pipe-line section 3 that are in positions where it is necessary that a liquid in the two-phase fluid flowing in the pipe-line section 3 be recovered. The liquid separated from the two-phase fluid is introduced into a liquid reservoir 14. The flow rate of the liquid is controlled by a control valve 19 to allow the liquid to have a potential head via a by- pass 18 with respect to the following confluence of the two-phase fluid in the pipe-line section 3. Thus, the liquid can be transferred without power. When something abnormal occurs in the transferring of the fluid during a pigging operation, the length of the liquid under a pig can be shortened by recovering the liquid through the by-pass 4. Thus, when a two-phase fluid is transferred for a long distance at a low velocity of flow by using this pipe-line device, inconveniences in a conventional pipe-line device of this kind can be eliminated so that the transfer efficiency can be increased.
