Abstract
PURPOSE: To obviate the occurrence of decrease in yield and quality by forming the coiling beginning end of a steel strip to an ideal shape through simultaneous bending and cutting with the specified forming device and coiling the steel strip.
CONSTITUTION: When a steel strip is conveyed and is sent to a steel strip end forming device 7, the end part of the steel strip 8 is guided between the dies of an upper die 3 and a lower die 2 and is then sent up to the shearing part on the exit side, where it is stopped by the stopper not illustrated. At this same instant, a lower blade support 5 descends and the upper die 3 presses the end part of the steel strip 8 to curve and form the steel strip end part downward with the lower die 2 pairing with said die. At the same time, the steel strip end part is cut by the shearing action of the descending upper blade 4 and the fixed lower blade 1. Thence, right after the cutting, the upper blade support 5 rises up to the original position and the conveying rollers are started, by which the end part of this steel strip as the coiling beginning end part of the coil is coiled to a tension reel 9. According to this constitution, the end part of the steel strip 8 has a curved face and tapered end face and therefore it closely adheres to the coiling surface of the tension reel 9 and the occurrence of step difference is obviated.
