Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:2,3-Dimethyl-quinoxaline-carboxylic acid of the formula.
USE: Various intermediates for dyes and pigments, water-soluble agents, e.g. bleaching catalysts of coloring matter in color photography. Water-solubility can be remarkably improved in the form of an alkali metal or ammonium salt, though this compound is fairly soluble in water.
PROCESS: o-Diaminobenzoic acid is reacted with diacetyl to give the objective compound of the formula.
