Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a small sized and highly reliable cell by using as an electrolyte an AgI-Ag2O-B2O3 ternary composition made up in a fixed molal proportion in a silver solid electrolyte cell with Ag as cathode and I2 as anode.
CONSTITUTION: A unit cell is made up by laminating the cathode (Ag)3, the solid electrolyte (an AgI-Ag2O-B2O3 ternary composition) 4, and the anode (solid I2) 5 in order. The preferred molal proportion, or x, y, and z, of the AgI-Ag2O-B2O3 ternary composition should be within the range surrounded by the points A, B, C,... L, M, and N when plotting them on a ternary composition graph. For example, the point A (x; 0.88, y; 0.06, z; 0.06), the B (x; 0.915, y; 0.057, z; 0.028), ... the point M (x; 0.832, y; 0.036, z; 0.134), and the poin N (x; 0.898, y;0.025, z; 0.077) are recommendable.
