Abstract

PURPOSE: An adhesive that is mainly composed of an aqueous emulsion of a specifically composed multi-component synthetic resin, thus permitting adhesion at normal temperature or with heat and having high storage stability, dry adhesion, water-resistant strength and heat resistance.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous emulsion is obtained by emulsion polymerization of (A) 1W50wt% of ethylene and (B) 4W95% of (a) a styrene monomer or a mixture thereof with (b) a monomer copolymerizable with component a at a weight ratio of 0W3 b/a. In the presence of the resulting aqueous emulsion, 1W50wt% of component A dnd 4W95wt% of (c) a vinyl ester of its mixture thereof with (d) a monomer copolymerizable with component c where the weight ratio is 0W3 are emulsion polymerized to give an aqueous emulsion of multi-component synthetic resin containing 10W60wt% of the solid component. The objective adhesive is made using the resulting emulsion as the major component.
