Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a comparison noise source with a simple construction by employing a horn antenna as the comparison noise source of a Dicke comparison microwave radiometer. CONSTITUTION:A comparison noise source 9 consisting of a horn antenna is mounted on the surface not affected by the sun or moon at a satellite body always at the cold space side in the universe. In this case, when a switch 6 is operated to become T0<T1<T2, a relationship V1<V<V2 is attained, where the voltage produced in a receiver 5 due to the difference between the temperature T0 of a noise source 9 and antenna temperature TA is represented by V, the voltage produced due to the difference between the temperature T0 and the temperature T1 of a skyhorn 2 is by V1, and the voltage produced due to the difference between the temperature T0 and the temperature T2 of the standard noise source 3. Further, the antenna temperature TA becomes TA=(V2T1-V1T2)/(V2-V1)+(T2- T1)V/ (V2-V1). Since the noise source 9 is disposed in the cold space side, it becomes low noise source. Thus, the temperature T0 is set at the lower limit in the antenna temperature observation range. Accordingly, a comparison noise source having low calibration error may be obtained.
