Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve workability by a method wherein hot rolling of extremely low carbon content aluminum killed steel is completed at a low temperature below Ar3 transformation temperature, the steel being cold-rolled and then continuous annealing is carried out for a short time.
CONSTITUTION: Steel piece of aluminum killed steel containing C<0.02%, Mn< 0.4%, Al 0.02W0.10% and N 0.001W0.010% is subjected to hot rolling operation. During the hot rolling operation between heating furnace and the outlet of hot rolling mil, AlN is deposited at a temperature below Ar3 transformation temperature. The hot rolling is completed at a low temperature below 800°C. Since carbon content is 0.02%, duplex structure is not formed by the above heat treatment. As residence time at a temperature of below Ar3 transformation temperature upto 800°C is above 5sec., AlN is deposited sufficiently, and strain is accumulated in the state of fervite. Then by annealing for a short time, ef. for several seconds, the steel material is softened to improve workability. As heat treatment is carried out at a lower temperature than prior art, heat energy is saved.
