Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare a polycarbonate which is free from waterdrops and impurities and can be easily purified, by adding specific amount of sodium chloride to the emulsion solution of the polymer.
CONSTITUTION: An emulsion of a polycarbonate is prepared by reacting a dioxy compound, e.g. bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)methane, etc., with phosgene in an inert organic solvent, e.g. methylene chloride, etc., in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide. Sodium chloride(preferably 1W15 parts by weight on the basis of 100 parts by weight of the dioxy compound) is added to the emulsion and the organic layer containing the polycarbonate is separated.
