Abstract

PURPOSE:To change H-type chelate ion exchange resin directly into Ca-type one and also to enhance its heat resistance without an intermediate treatment to change it into Na-type by treating a chelate ion exchange resin whose functional terminal groups have H atom with an ammoniacal Ca compound aqueous solution. CONSTITUTION:A chelate ion exchange resin whose functional terminal groups have H atom is treated with an ammoniacal aqueous solution of a Ca compound, e.g., CaCl2, Ca(OH)2, etc., having pH 9 to 12, perferably at an upward space velocity of 50 1/H. The preferred amount of Ca compound in the solution is more than 1 mole(as Ca) on the basis of the one mole equilibrium exchange capacity of H-type chelate resin, or 1 to 4 mole usually.
