Abstract
PURPOSE: To make possible optimum fixing processing according to recording paper and good fixing processing free from temperature decrease by letting one of fixing and pressing rollers be a plurality of rollers which are different in any of temperature, diameter, peripheral speed and surface hardness and making selective use of them.
CONSTITUTION: The pressing rollers 3, 4 of different diameters which are respectively cleaned of their surfaces by cleaning members 10, 11 are selectively moved to the operating position as a supporting member 5 is turned about fulcrum 6. Therefore, if the rollers 3, 4 are selected according to the thickness and moisture content of the recording paper to be used, optimum fixing processing complying with the recording paper of different kinds and states may be accomplished. Similarly, if a plurality of pressing rollers of different heating temperatures, peripheral speeds and surface hardnesses are selected, the specified optimum fixing conditions are set and the cleaning action of the rollers and the prevention of a sharp drop in fixing temperature of the fixing roller 1 immediate after starting of paper passing are well accomplished and the optimum fixing processing is thereby accomplished. The similar results may also be obtained even if plural kinds of fixing rollers are selectively used.
