Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the power consumption of an annular fluorescent lamp by filling mixture rare gas of argon, at least one or rare gases of larger atomic weight, and at least one of rare gases of smaller atomic weight into the annular fluorescent lamp bulb.
CONSTITUTION: The tube outer diameter d of a fluorescent lamp bulb 1 is formed to be 26 to 30mm. The outer diameter D of the annular bulb 1 is formed 215 to 235mm. Mixture gas of argon, at least one of rare gases of larger atomic weight than that of the argon, and at least one of rare gases of smaller atomic weight than that of the argon is filled at 1.5 to 3.0mmHg of gas pressure in the bulb 1. When the outer diameter d of the bulb 1 exceeds 30mm, the tube current becomes larger due to low sealed gas impedance. When the diameter d is less than 26mm, it increases the energy loss at the tube wall, which causes no effective use of ultraviolet ray to thereby lower the light output power and which causes high starting voltage to thereby induce a difficulty in firing at low temperature.
