Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an indoor unit of room air conditioner, which is arranged to be capable of affording a uniform temperature distribution in the air to be air-conditioned, reducing the floor space required for installation of the indoor unit and making convenient use of the same.
CONSTITUTION: During cooling operation of the air conditioner, when upper fan 6 and air diffusing port 7 are used, air cooled by heat exchanger 4 is diffused into the room from upper portion of indoor unit 3. On the other hand, during heating operation when lower fan 8 and air diffusing port 9 are used, heated air is supplied from lower portion of the unit 3. thus, uniform temperature distribution in the room to be air-conditioned can be attained both in cooling and heating operation. Further, fans are provided respectively at the upper and the lower portions of the unit 3, so that depth of the unit 3 can be made small and thus floor space required for installation of the unit 3 can be reduced, thereby enabling efficient use of the limited space of the room.
