Abstract
PURPOSE:To prolong the life of a semiconductor laser by stopping the laser to operate when an input signal level is below fixed one. CONSTITUTION:After being PFM-modulated 5, an input signal is pulse-amplified 6 and then supplied to gate 2 and the level of the input signal is detected and decided 3, so that its output control signal will be supplied to gate 2. When an input signal is above a decision level, a PFM pulse is supplied to laser driver circuit 9 via gate 2 and its output allows laser 10 to start operating; when it is below the decision level, gate 2 is caused to close, thereby stopping laser 10 to luminesce.
