Abstract

PURPOSE: To make longer the life of smoothing capacitor and to make stable the X-ray tube current, by increasing the internal resistance of the tetrode tube for switching at the start of X-ray exposure and by suppressing the transient current.
CONSTITUTION: In the computerized tomograph (CT), the output of the high voltage generator 31 rectifying the high voltage AC is switched with the tetrode tube 32 and is given to the X-ray tube 33, and pulsive exposure of X-rays is made. By controlling the filament current of the tube 32 or the bias voltage of the first grid, the internal resistance is increased at turning on of the tube 32 and that is decreased after that. The circuit 35 plays a role of such function. Accordingly, at the start of X-ray exposure, the occurrence of transient current is avoided and the life of the smoothing capacitor 36 can be made longer, and since no voltage variation is present, the X-ray tube current is made stable, thereby increasing the reliability of the CT unit.
