Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve the eliminaion of disadvantages such as receiving of restrictions in installation positions and sampling methods by providing a light projecting cable and a light receiving cable built in with optical fibers and projecting and receiving light by letting the end faces of both cables oppose to each other. CONSTITUTION:A light projecting cable 2 which is built in with a flexible optical fiber bundle is protrusively provided from a light projector 1 built in with a light source. A light receiving cable 4 which is built in with a flexible optical fiber bundle is also protrusively provided on the photo detector side. The end of the light projecting cable 2 is thrown under liquid surface 5 and also the end of the cable 4 is thrown under liquid surface 5, the respective end faces being mutually opposed by leaving a distance D. The construction is simple and its maintenance is easy, permitting measurment of turbidities at plural positions simultaneously under the same conditions by providing a plurality of a pair of light projecting and receiving cables. The results of measurement may be remote transmitted with an information transmitter. In addition, on-line measurement is also feasible. Since the cables are flexible, they may be moved as desired and the measuring positions readily changed as desired.
