Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a curable composition having a low viscosity and a high boiling point, free from ill-oxdor and almost free from skin irritative property, by compounding a low molecular weight monoacrylate monomer with a specific crosslinkable monomer.
CONSTITUTION: A curable composition comprising (A) a monomer I (R1 and R2 are H or alkyl; R3 is ethylene; n is 1 - 10 ) having a molecular weight of 450 - 1,000 , and/or a monomer II or III [R4 is (substituted) alkylene of ≥ 3C ], and (B) a crosslinkable monomer having two or more methacryloyl groups in the molecule, or one or more crosslinkable monomers having two or more acryloyl groups or two or more acryloyl and methacryloyl groups in the molecule, and having molecular weights of ≥ 450 . The amount of the component (A) is preferably 60 - 90 wt%.
EFFECT: Excellent in adhesive properties for metals, plastics, etc. and useful as coating materials, binders, vehicles for printing inks, etc..
