Abstract
PURPOSE: A flame-retardant vinyl chloride resin composition that is composed of a vinyl chloride resin, a metal hydroxide, a powder of copper or its compound and inorganic or metal fibers, thus giving molded products having high flame retardancy, evolving reduced smoke on burning, and causing no sagging when heated.
CONSTITUTION: To 100 parts by wt of a vinyl chloride resin are incorporated (A) 5W200 parts of a compound selected from metal hydroxide whose equilibrium pressure in the dehydrating decomposition is 1 atmospheric pressure at 150W600°C as ferric hydroxide, quick lime, calcium stearate, and crystal-containing inorganic compound whose dissociation pressure of crystal water becomes 1 atmospheric pressure at 150W600°C such as zinc borate, barium borate, (B) 0.05W10 parts, calculated as copper metal, of powdery copper or inorganic copper compound as cupric oxide and (C) 0W200 parts of inorganic fibers as glass fibers or metal fibers as stainless steel fibers whose length is preferably 100μmW5mm on the average.
