Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a rate earth cobalt magnet at a low cost to meet magnetic characteristics by specifying the molecular number of Co with respect to rare earth elements through sintering of a cast material powdered after the powder of rare earth Co magnet produced by a direct reductive diffusion method is cast once it is melted.
CONSTITUTION: The powder of rare earth Co magnet produced by a direct reductive diffusion method is cast once it is melted. Then, it is crushed into powder with a grain of preferably 50 to 15 μm. The powder thus obtained is compressed under a pressure of 0.5 to 5 tons/cm2 in a magnetic field ranging from 5,000 to 15,000 Oe. The resulting green compact is sintered at 1,150 to 1,230°C and further, subjected to a ageing at 750 to 870°C. With such a method, a magnet as shown by a fomula R (co1-x.Cux)z for example can be produced, where R represents rare earth element with Z exceeding 5 up to 8.5 normally 7, 7.4 and 7.6.
