Abstract

PURPOSE: To inspect the whole outer diameters of UO2 pellets and the whole inner diameters of a cladding tube, by means of inserting into the cladding tube previously before an inspecting tool which meansures the outer diameter of the pellets is inserted into an opening end of the cladding tube.
CONSTITUTION: An empty fuel rod which is welded with a lower end plug 7 and a cladding tube 8, is first put on the UO2 pellet inserting stand. Then, a coil spring 5 is inserted and thereafter an inspection tool 40 is mounted on the upper step of the cladding tube. At this time, the inspection of the inner diameter of the cladding tube is effected. Thereafter, UO2 pellet 3 whose weight measurement was finished, is inserted into the cladding tube. At this time, the inspection of the outer diameters of the UO2 pellets is effected on the total pellets to be inserted into the cladding tube. After the pellets loading being finished, an inner spring 4 and getters are inserted into the fuel rod, and the fuel rod is completed by means of welding the upper end plug.
