Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the energy charged into the piezoelectric element via the booster coil from flowing reversely to the booster coil again by inserting the diode between the booster coil and the piezoelectric element, and thus to utilize effectively the boosted voltage.
CONSTITUTION: With application of the rectangular wave of the audible frequency which is desired to deliver through the piezoelectric speaker to input terminal b, transistor 5 and 6 have the ON-OFF operation. With transistor 5 and 6 turned on, the potential difference across booster coil 7 and piezoelectric element 8 is fixed to the level equal to the voltage of battery 10. Then with transistor 5 and 6 turned off, the series circuit of coil 7, diode 9 and element 8 is put under the isolation state, and the stored energy of coil 7 flows into element 8 via diode 9. In other words, the energy stored in coil 7 are all transferred to element 8 at the instant when transistor 5 and 6 are turned off if the circuit loss is neglected.
