Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the impeller from vibrating due to its own imbalance or the reaction of fluid etc. without increasing the diameter of the impeller shaft.
CONSTITUTION: The inside surface of an impeller casing 7 facing the side plate 11 of the impeller is curved in conformity with the side plate 11 at a predetermined distance therefrom. A plurality of pressure chambers 12 are defined by the curved inside surface in the circumferential direction. The pressure chambers 12 are connected to a discharge chamber 4 through introducing holes 13. When the impeller 1 rotates and the fluid is supplied from a suction chamber 3 to the discharge chamber 4, a part of the fluid supplied to the discharge chamber 4 is introduced into the pressure chamber 12 through the introducing holes 13 and flows back into the suction chamber 3 while applying pressure to the surface of the side plate 11 of the impeller 1. Since an automatic centripetal force is applied against the radial displacement of the impeller to return it to the original position, the vibration of the impeller 1 is damped.
