Abstract

PURPOSE: To measure angles of torsion readily and highly accurately by inserting the contact face formed to the measuring shaft supported to a base fitted to a gear into the tooth groove of the gear in the state where it is made parallel to the axial center line of the gear and revolving the measuring shaft.
CONSTITUTION: A mounting base 1 is placed on the end face 2a of a gear 2. Two centripetal plates 17 are applied to the outside diameter of the gear 2 and are contacted to the end fade 2a by lowering a magnet 3 through screw adjustment, after which a support base 6 is inserted into the groove 1b of the mounting base 1 and is fixed to the mounting base 1 by means of a clamp 7 to direct the axial center line of a measuring ball spline shaft 16 being the measuring shaft toward the center of the gear 2. Next, the ball spline shaft 16 is moved toward the gear 2 by a handle 20 to insert a measuring contactor 18 into the tooth groove of the gear 2 and the measurement position is determined by moving the mounting base 1 along the outside diameter of the gear 2 by hand. Next, the measuring contactor 18 is inserted into the tooth groove and its contact face 18a is contacted to the tooth face, then the measuring ball spline shaft 16 and half-pulley 14 are rotated according to the angle of torsion of the tooth of the gear 2 and from the rotation quantity thereof, the angle of torsion is measured.
