PURPOSE:To diagnose the operation normality and abnormality of the surface flaw inspector by depositing liquid on the surface of rolled steel plates and detecting the liquid with the surface flaw inspector. CONSTITUTION:In a normal inspection state, a command signal S1 is turned ON 1 by pushing the push-button of a control circuit 11 to operate a compressor 10 and inject compressed air from the nozzle 6a of a water draining device 6, then a cooling water device 2 blows off the water having been spread on a rolled steel plate SL so that there is no residual water. Here, when no residual water is detected by a detect defection circuit DET, the output signal S3 of this circuit goes OFF and a gate circuit 12 does not produce ON output. A gate circuit 13 produces ON output after turning ON of S2', thereby producing an alarm ALM.
