Abstract

PURPOSE: A water-born coating composition that contains a specific water-soluble or dispersible resin has desirable properties required as a cathod precipitating type electrocoating and gives coating films with high impact strength, anticorrosion, water resistance and hardness.
CONSTITUTION: After the epoxidation of a liquid polybutadiene with a number average molecular weight of 500W5,000, an iodine value of 100W500, and a 1,4- linkage content of over 30 %, by hydrogen peroxide or a peracid to an epoxidized butadiene with an oxirane oxygent content of 1,5W13 wt%, the epoxy rings are opened by the reaction with an amine bearing primary or secondary amino groups.
