Abstract

PURPOSE:To save process of molding, etc. and obtain stable outputs in long-time use by partially heating the core composed of amorphous ferromagnetic material thereby forming the region where the magnetic permeability of part of the core is decreased. CONSTITUTION:Thin cores 21 obtained from amorphous ferromagnetic thin plates are laminated to provide a head core 20. Thereafter, the beam from a laser oscillator 22 is radiated to the portion of part 24 of the tape slide face 23 of the head core 20 to heat that portion. It turns out that this heated portion loses magnetism as compared to the other unheated portions. Hence, when the width U0 of the head core is heated at a width of U1 from respecive both sides of the core, the effective track width U of the head becomes U0-2U1. As a result, the core width U0 in the tape sliding face of the head is taken widely and therefore abrasion resistance is considerably improved and stable outputs may be obtained despite long-time use.
