Abstract

PURPOSE: A cylinder made of elastic film, with its both ends sealed with covers, is filled with powder so that it is shaped into a barrel form. By applying pressure to the above-described film in its radial direction and to the covers in their axial direction, a cylindrical powder molding free from any constriction can be produced.
CONSTITUTION: Elastic film 1 is inserted into cylinder 5 fitted with seal plate 2b, ring 3b and stopper cover 4b only on its lower end. Ring-shaped stopper 8b is inserted into the end part of cylinder 5 to support it. Then the cylinder is filled with powder 10 through the opening. This operation is continued until the elastic film expands so as to assume a barrel form in contact with the inner wall of barrel- shaped cylinder 5. After this, the open end of elastic film is covered in a similar manner. After inserting ring-shaped stopper 8a, the entire body is placed into the pressure tank, and static pressure is applied, by means of a flowing body, from the axial and radial directions of cylinder 5 so that elastic film 1 assumes gradually a cylindrical form, and thereby the desired powder molding is obtained.
