Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a device to remove stray magnetic particles, capable of collecting very fine magnetic particles, without scattering them, and with high efficiency, to be installed inside iron piping, such as gas or oil transport pipe, containing magnetic particles such as iron oxides.
CONSTITUTION: Barrier 12 consisting of a plurality of disks 12a, 12b, of diameter nearly equal to the inner diameter of conduit 11, is provided inside conduit 11 at right angles to the direction of flow 13 of the fluid flowing inside it. Opening 14 is provided on conduit 11 at the lower part of barrier 12 and arrester 15 is provided so as to close opening 14. This arrester 15 is constructed by assembling a plurality of permanent magnets 17, 18, for example, into a cone shape, with a plurality of magnetic poles 16 provided on the inner surfaces of these magnets. By this, fine magnetic particles 21 in the fluid flowing in conduit 11 collide with barrier 12 and fall and adhere to magnetic poles 16 of arrester 15. The above-described particles 21 can be removed efficiently when arrester 15 is removed from junction 19 and properly cleaned.
