Abstract

CONSTITUTION: Core fuel pins 8 and neutron moderating rods 14 are inserted in a wrapper tube 7 of a fuel assembly. Carbon pellets 15 (carbon or beryllium is used as a neutron moderating material) are inserted at core ranges A to the axial directions of cladding tubes 11 of the neutron moderating rods 14, and core fuel pellets 13 are inserted at the upper and lower ranges B of the core ranges A. Accordingly, the neutron produced by nuclear fission at the core fuel pins 8 is reduced in the energy by means of allowing to be moderated by the moderating materials in the neutron moderating rods 14, and the reflecting action of the neutron of a branket fuel is increased, and the neutron flux distribution is uniformalized, and the output distribution is also uniformalized, thereby the fuel pins are evenly combustioned.
