Abstract
PURPOSE: To homogeneously arrange fuel rods in the reactor core to make constant the volumeric ratio of high water to uranium, thereby removing the local offset of flattening the power distribution of the reactor core.
CONSTITUTION: Fuel rods 1 are arranged so that the cross section of each of fuel assemblies 10 assumes an octagonal shape. These fuel assemblies 10 are arranged in the reactor vessel, and a square shape 4 is formed by sides of four fuel assemblies 10 and a protective tube 6 is provided. Four fuel assemblies 10 form one module, and control rods are arranged in eight protective tubes 6 at the parts of the square shape 4. A neutron instrumentation tube 7 is arranged in another protective tube 6. Accordingly, the arrangement of fuel rods in the reactor core becomes homogeneous, and the local volumeric ratio of light water to urenium becomes constant, and therefore no offset is caused in the neutron slowing-down effect and the power distribution of the reactor core can be flattened.
