Abstract
PURPOSE: A non-pollution granular colorant having improved dispersibility and automatic measurability, comprising a dye or pigment, a metal salt of a hygher fatty acid having a relatively low melting point and polyethylene glycol as dispersing agents, and a resinous substance having a relatively low melting point as a binder.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 100 parts by wt. of an ordinary pigment for coloring thermoplastic resins is incorporated with (B) about 5W200 parts by wt. of a metal salt of a higher fatty acid, e.g. zinc, mangesium stearates, etc. having a melting point of preferably about 150°C or below, (C) about 1W50 parts by wt. of polyethylene glycol having an average molecular weight of about 1,000W10,000, and (D) about 0.5W10 parts by wt. of a low-melting resinous substance, e.g. phenolic, modified maleic acid resin, etc., having a softening point of preferably about 50W160°C, and dryblended homogeneously by a high-speed mixer, then kneaded in the form of a molten paste under heating. The blend is cooled, pulverized, extruded and granulated to give a granular colorant.
