Abstract
PURPOSE: To form a copper ornamental article having excellent weather discoloring resistance.
CONSTITUTION: A surface of a copper plate or the like is colored by sulfurization, oxidation, plating or the like, and a baking clear coat containing corrosion pre- ventive agents for copper which agents include triazole derivatives is applied on the surface as such or after the surface has been furnished with a scrached pattern by brushing or the like. For instance, after a surface of a copper plate is colored by oxidation, the surface is applied with a acryl polyester baking clear coat added with 0.3% by weight of benzotriazole, then it is dried at about 80°C to remove volatile materials, and when it is baked at 250°C for 45 seconds to 2 minutes to cure the clear coat the obtained surface has not further oxidized and has excellent weather discoloring resistance. As the baking clear coat, acrylics, alkyds etc. can be used.
