NEW MATERIAL:Intermediates of prostaglandin analogs of formula I [X is ethylene or cis-vinylene; R1 is 1-12C alkyl; R2, R3 are the same or different H or OH-protecting groups; R4 is S or Se; R5 is 1-4C alkyl or formula II (R6, R7 are the same or different H or Cl)].
EXAMPLE: 1α-Acetoxy-2α-(6-phenylseleno-6-methoxycarbonylhexa-cis-2-enyl)-3β- formyl-4α-(tetrahydropyran-2-yloxy)cyclopentane.
USE: Intermediates of prostaglandin analogs which have a trans-double bond between C2 and C3 in prostanic acid.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula III is subjected to the oxidation where -CH2OH is converted to -CHO to prepare the objective compound of formula I.
