Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a multi-cylinder engine which can bring the function of dual induction system into full play by preventing problem due to overlapping in the opening timing of the suction valves otherwise caused between cylinders adjacent to each other in the order of ignition.
CONSTITUTION: For example, in a straight 4 cylinder/4 cycle engine in which ignition is made in the order of the first, third, fourth and second cylinders, the cylinders 1 and 4 and 2 and 3 are respectively combined in such a manner as to avoide continuous ignition between cylinders adjacent to each other. Low-speed suction pathes j1 and j4 of respective the first and fourth cylinders converge on a common low-speed suction path j1 which is communicated to a low-speed car- burator P1 of a first compound type carburetor 10 while high-speed suction pathes k1 and k2 of the respective first and fourth cylinders converges on a common high- speed suction path k1 which is communicated to a high-speed carburetor S1 of the carburetor 10. On the other hand, the second and third cylinders are arranged in the same way.
