Abstract

PURPOSE: To constantly obtain optimum temperature distribution in the furnace by providing a means to mechanically change the capacity of the furnace or combustion chamber.
CONSTITUTION: A ceiling 36 of an upper heating zone 10 and a furnace floor 37 of a lower heating zone 14 are made parallelingly movable in horizontal direction by moving mechanisms 38 and 39 whereby the furnace shape of the upper and lower heating zones 10 and 14 are changed with increased or decreased combustion chamber capacity as the ceiling 36 and the furnace floor 37 are moved in lateral direction by wheels 46 running on rails 47 driven by cylinders 48 corresponding to the heating load of the material being heat treated. The furnace temperature distribution which matches the optimum heat treatment curve can be obtained for continuous heat treatment with minimum thermal source when the furnace shape change and the combustion chamber capacity variation are done together with the furnace temperature control and the fuel consumption control.
