Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce an easily produced small finder optical system of a single lens reflex camera by combining a triangular prism and a single mirror.
CONSTITUTION: A right-angled triangular prism 11 is prepared by polishing the three sides of a right-angled triangular column of elongated transparent material and by cutting it such that the sides 11a and 11b are used as reflecting surfaces. The sides 11a and 11b are arranged about a half mirror 2 such that they interpose the vertical plane of the camera including the optical axis of a taking lens system 1 and such that they are inclined at a suitable angle with respect to the horizontal plane of the camera (which is normal to the paper side and in parallel with the optical axis of the lens 1). The light reflected by the mirror 2 is sequentially reflected by the sides 11a and 11b so that it is directed obliquely downwardly. Moreover, a mirror 13 is provided at such an inclination as is tilted back and forth with respect to the horizontal plane of the camera so that the light from the prism 11 may be reflected to a back focal plate 7. A focusing lens 12 is interposed between the prism 11 and the mirror 13 so that the real image of the object may be formed on a focal plate 7.
